Historic Chinese Camp. Located 18 miles from Oakdale, Chinese Camp is a historic town with a Gold Rush past. First settled as Washingtonville, the town became a friendly haven for Chinese laborers in the mid 1800s during the Northern California Gold Rush. It was once home to several thousand residents of Chinese descent who established businesses, homes, and even a school that looks like a pagoda. The post office and Catholic church remain as reminders of the heady days when a person could get rich quick if lucky enough.

Railtown 1897 State Historic Park.
